Rotary Club Hoshiarpur Midtown (26559), Rotary District 3070, together with the Plano Metro Rotary Club of Plano, Texas, restored the sight of a corneal blind patient — a 50-year-old man from Amritsar, Punjab — under the project Mission Gift of Sight.

The transplant was performed by Dr. Shakeen Singh of Dr. Shakeen’s Eye & Dental Hospital, Court Road, Amritsar, under the MOU signed between the Rotary clubs and the hospital. The operation, the cornea and the medicines were all free of cost to the patient.

The project is supervised by Rtn. Jatinder Singh of the Rotary Club of Amritsar Aastha. This was the 447th corneal transplant by the clubs under Mission Gift of Sight since COVID-19.
